EXPANSION TANK

EXPANSION TANK

The expansion tank and its cap play a crucial role in maintaining the coolant volume and pressure in a vehicle's engine. When the engine temperature rises, so does the temperature of the coolant, causing an expansion of the liquid and an increase in pressure in the cooling circuit.

The expansion tank compensates for this volume change, while the cap regulates the pressure change by means of an integrated pressure relief valve. Together, these two components ensure that the vehicle can be operated without the risk of irreversible damage.

The expansion tank works by utilizing the residual volume after filling the cooling circuit to compensate for any volume variations that occur. Meanwhile, the cap ensures the tightness of the cooling circuit when mounted on the expansion tank and regulates the pressure to maintain optimal engine performance.

Regular maintenance checks of the expansion tank and its cap can help prevent leaks and malfunctions, ensuring the proper functioning of the vehicle's cooling system.
